Terms & Process
Last updated November 3, 2026
Ray's Model Workshop, operated by Rays Model Workshop LLC, makes custom 3D printed, hand-painted models and figurines. These terms explain how a commission works so there are no surprises.
1. Quotes
Each project starts with a written quote sent by email. A quote lists the price, estimated shipping, and an expected timeline. Quotes are valid for 14 days. Prices on this website are starting guides only.
2. Deposit and payment
Work begins when the quote is accepted and a 50% deposit is paid. The remaining balance is due before the finished piece ships. See Deposits & Refunds for details.
3. Approval at each stage
You'll see progress and have the chance to approve or request changes at key stages (for example the 3D design and the painted piece before final finishing). Please reply promptly – a delay in approval can move your delivery date.
Your quote includes up to two rounds of revisions at the design stage. Changes beyond that, or changes requested after you've approved a stage, may add cost and time and will be quoted before I proceed.
4. Timelines
Timelines are estimates, not guarantees. Hand-painted work takes time, and I'll tell you right away if something changes. If you need a piece by a specific date, say so in your request and I'll tell you honestly whether it's realistic.
5. Reference images and what I can make
By submitting photos or ideas, you confirm you own them or have permission to use them. I make personal, one-of-a-kind pieces. I may decline projects that would copy another company's trademarked characters or logos for resale, that infringe someone's rights, or that I'm not comfortable producing. Personal keepsakes of gaming avatars and favorite characters are discussed case by case.
6. Hand-made variation
Each piece is printed and painted by hand, so small variations in color, texture, and detail are normal and part of the character of the work. Likeness of pets and people is an artistic interpretation based on your references, and its accuracy depends on the quality of the photos you provide.
7. Photos of finished work
I may photograph finished pieces for my website and social media. If you'd prefer yours not be shown, just let me know before the piece ships and I won't post it.
8. Care and safety
Figurines are decorative display pieces, not toys, and contain small parts. They are not intended for children under 3 and may not withstand rough handling. Keep them away from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture, and dust gently with a soft brush.
9. Limits of liability
To the extent allowed by law, my liability for any claim related to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina.
